Pausing to Reflect on What has Transpired and Looking Toward the Future
It was between the time of about March-May of 2022 that I remember sharing news about food factories catching fire, Bill Gates buying up a large percentage of American Farmland, farmers being forced into having their animals culled in the name of illnesses that have not been proven, or even threatened to be shut down and halt production for non-compliance. I was discussing these instances among some online friends and close family, and I remember jokingly telling my sister that eggs were gonna be $10 a frigging carton by the end of the year… not so far-fetched of an idea anymore though, is it?
I’m sure damned near everyone has noticed continued increase in the cost of food. If you haven’t already, it may be time to stop and think about ways you can become more self-sufficient and perhaps even contribute to building a local network with other growers, gardeners and homesteaders. Not only will you know where your food is coming from, but it will alleviate the pressure from shortages, inflation and shipping infrastructure breakdown.
